Just over a month ago FC Bayern would visit the Imtech-Arena in Hamburg and be held to a somewhat surprising goalless draw, but this time only one team will emerge triumphant as the two onetime rivals clash in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.

Under new coach Josef Zinnbauer HSV have managed to gradually crawl out of the automatic relegation spots, but coming into this game their form is not great and a repeat of last month’s result will be something of an achievement. They are yet to register a win in their nine Bundesliga matches this season, and things are unlikely to change following Bayern’s journey north.

The first round of the cup competition would see Bayern overcome a spirited Preußen Münster before strolling to a 4-1 win, while Hamburg would be taken to the limit by third division Energie Cottbus, squeezing through on a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw.
